Stellaris-13 is intentionally opinionated. Where legacy astrology inherited compromise grids or twenty-first-century clichés, Stellaris-13 implements original astronomical and interpretive frameworks authored by TAObaeus (Tao).
1. Chiron's Rulership of Ophiuchus & The 13-House Shift (Houses 9 to 13)
In the 13-sign wheel, Ophiuchus (the Serpent Bearer / Asclepius) is ruled by Chiron and opens a new house at position 9. Every subsequent traditional house shifts up by one number while preserving the sequence of life domains:
- 9th House (The New House, Ruled by Chiron): Convalescence, suture, and active treatment after the 8th-house rupture. It is not transcendence of the wound, but its treatment. It governs the medical and therapeutic arts, recovery of what was nearly lost, holding the serpent without being bitten, and turning the wound into a vocation before philosophy can mean anything.
- 10th House (Traditional 9th): Philosophy, higher mind, the long journey, law, and meaning.
- 11th House (Traditional 10th): Vocation, career, public standing, and sovereign authority.
- 12th House (Traditional 11th): Community, alliances, networks, and collective hopes.
- 13th House (Traditional 12th): The new house of self-undoing, the subconscious, dissolution, confinement, surrender, and what lies beyond the ego.
2. The Cosmic Proportional Wheel & Narrow-Band Squeeze
In Stellaris-13's default Cosmic Proportional house system, the 13 house widths are fixed in Aries-to-Pisces order using the actual IAU ecliptic spans of the 13 constellations, anchored at the Ascendant. Because IAU Scorpius spans only 6.1 degrees along the ecliptic (1.7 percent of the wheel), the 8th house always carries that compressed 6.1-degree corridor. When a body sits inside IAU Scorpius, it experiences the narrow-band squeeze between its two massive neighbors, Libra and Ophiuchus.
3. The Astrobiological Post-Roman System: 12 Living Constellations & The Trophy Cusp
Offered as a selectable framework alongside the IAU wheel, the Post-Roman system enforces a strict life-respecting rule: every figure on the wheel must be a living creature, never an inanimate measuring device.
- Claws Restored (Libra Abolished): The Roman scales are abolished. Those stars are Chelae Scorpionis (Zubenelgenubi, Zubeneschamali, Zubenelhakrabi), the scorpion's Claws, restored to Scorpius.
- Star-Midpoint Boundaries: Boundaries sit at the ecliptic midpoints between the nearest figure stars across each border. All twelve spans sum to 360.0 degrees, with Virgo as the largest sign on the wheel (48.2 degrees) and Pisces second (46.6 degrees).
- The Sever Line (250.61° J2000) & Biological Autotomy: Ophiuchus wrestles not a separate serpent, but the severed tail of the scorpion as his trophy. The sever line sits at 250.61 degrees (midpoint between Antares at 249.76 and Tau Scorpii at 251.46). Grounded in documented metasoma autotomy in scorpions of the genus Ananteris, living Scorpius (222.61 to 250.61 degrees, 28.0 degrees wide) keeps the claws, head, and heart under its classical sole ruler Mars, governing crisis, merging, sex, shared resources, transformation, and regeneration.
- The Trophy Cusp (266.33° to 267.52° J2000): The severed tail's tip star (Girtab at 267.52) crosses past the Ophiuchus-to-Sagittarius boundary (266.33), creating a 1.19-degree overlap zone named the Trophy Cusp. Ruled by Pluto as lord of the severed dead (with Ophiuchus/Chiron underneath), the Trophy Cusp alone carries the portfolio of Trauma and Death.
4. The 8-Place Octotopos (Angle Midpoint Houses)
Paired by default with the Post-Roman wheel (and independently selectable with any zodiac), the Octotopos constructs eight places in degrees from the four angles (Ascendant = Place 1, IC = Place 3, Descendant = Place 5, Midheaven = Place 7) and the midpoints of the four quadrant arcs. Place 8 sits adjacent to Place 1 in mechanical aversion (making no classical aspect to the Ascendant so it cannot see it) and governs hidden and unwitnessed things. Traditional death associations are expressly excluded from Place 8; death has one home, the Trophy Cusp.
5. Counterweight Sonic Resonance (v2.2)
Rather than amplifying an afflicted planetary aspect with harsh frequencies, the Stellaris-13 Sonic Resonance Engine uses a counterweight medicine path: hard kernels receive balancing modal and instrumental antidotes, while the seeker chooses the clinical intent (Unwind at an 84 BPM breath pocket vs. Ready propulsion).

The Astrobiological Post-Roman System: The Story, With Small Print

Part 1: The Story
1. The claws came first. In Greek astronomy, the constellation in the stretch of sky now labelled Libra was called Chelae, the Claws, and was drawn as the front end of the scorpion next door. The scales became the standard figure for those stars through the Roman-era tradition that Western astrology inherited. The Arabic star names preserved the older figure: alpha Librae is Zubenelgenubi, from the Arabic for "the southern claw"; beta Librae is Zubeneschamali, "the northern claw"; gamma Librae is Zubenelhakrabi, "the claws of the scorpion."
2. The grid came second. In 1928 the International Astronomical Union adopted official constellation boundaries drawn by Eugene Delporte, published in 1930 in his Delimitation scientifique des constellations. Along the ecliptic, this leaves Scorpius with a span of 6.1 degrees, while the scorpion's own figure, claws to sting, projects across roughly 42 degrees of longitude. Its heart star, Antares, sits at longitude 249.76, inside Ophiuchus's IAU span by longitude. Its sting stars project past Ophiuchus's far edge into Sagittarius's span.
3. The Trophy and the Sever Line. Ophiuchus is reframed as wrestling not a serpent but the scorpion's severed tail, which becomes his trophy. The sever line is the midpoint between Antares (249.76), the heart and the last body star, and Tau Scorpii (251.46), the first tail segment: 250.61. Scorpius spans 222.61 to 250.61 (28.0 degrees) and keeps Mars, its classical sole ruler. The trophy's tip star, Girtab at 267.52, crosses the Ophiuchus to Sagittarius line (266.33), creating the Trophy Cusp (266.33 to 267.52, 1.19 degrees), ruled by Pluto as lord of the dead and carrying trauma and death.
4. The biology, checked. Tail loss in scorpions is not only a metaphor. Species of the genus Ananteris are documented in the zoological literature (notably work by Garcia-Hernandez, Machado and colleagues) performing autotomy of the metasoma, the tail: the detached tail keeps moving and retains a functional sting for a time, the survivor seals the wound, and, because the anus is located in the metasoma, the survivor cannot defecate thereafter. Post-autotomy survival of months, including continued mating, is reported, with death following eventually from the blockage. The system's portfolio split, trauma and death assigned to the severed piece, was made before this literature was consulted in the session and happens to match it.
Part 2 & 3: Method and Small Print Highlights
Star positions were computed from the Hipparcos catalogue (J2000 ecliptic longitudes, obliquity 23.4393 degrees) and carried forward by precession. "Figure ownership beats IAU assignment" is applied in both directions on the record: stars the IAU assigns to Libra are held to be Scorpius's (the Claws), and stars the IAU assigns to Scorpius are held to be Ophiuchus's trophy (the tail). The eight places are constructed from the four angles and quadrant arc midpoints in degrees (Descendant starts the fifth place, Midheaven the seventh; the eighth place sits in mechanical aversion to the first and governs hidden and unwitnessed things, while death lives solely in the Trophy Cusp).
